Spring Fair
What a fantastic day we had celebrating our Spring Fair on Thursday. The weather was fantastic too! I must confess I did panic when I was awoken by the thunder storm that rolled through in the early hours of Thursday morning! A special mention and a huge thank you to the Tewantin State School P&C for their organisation and unlimited hours of volunteering to make the day so special for our students. You are all amazing, and I acknowledge your contribution.
A big thank you to all the local businesses and major sponsors of the event. To the numerous volunteers, donators and contributors thank you all for your input. The school staff did a wonderful job on the day. My/our staff are amazing!
At assembly on Friday I spoke to the students about staying SAFE, RESPECTFUL and still being LEARNERS while they are on the holiday break. Please bring them all back safe and sound for the start of the last term.

Year 5 Annual Tewantin State School Speaking Competition Speaking
I was honoured to witness some of our Year 5 students at the recent Year 5 annual Tewantin State School Speaking Competition on Thursday 7th September. Congratulations go to all of the students who participated and especially Charlotte Bold who was the Champion Speaker. Thank you to our P&C who donated a $50 gift card as the major prize.

Year 3 Convict Days
I visited the Year 4 classes of 4D and 4B where students had written a historical narrative and then taken on the role of a child from the First Fleet voyage. They also presented a spoken recount of their journey.
‘Convict Day’ is part of our Year 4 Curriculum based on the voyage of the First Fleet. Students were invited to come dressed as their favourite character to enhance their verbal presentation. This created great excitement and enhanced the engagement in the task. Students were offered tastes of porridge, salted beef (silverside), pickled cabbage, and damper and listened to some music from the era and played some convict games and fun activities.

QParents
We are now a QParents school. Parents and Carers have all now received their unique invitation code. I encourage all parents to register with QParents as soon as possible. Parents will be able to access absence data, pay invoices, lodge change of details, school reports and most importantly, it will be the only way to provide online consent for excursions and programs going forward.
As we come to the end of Term 3, I would like to thank you for your support. I am so proud to be the Principal of Tewantin State School.
Have a safe and happy holiday,
Rob
Term 3 is always an incredibly busy, but fun term for our P&C. We hosted a successful Father’s Day stall, which gave all the students an opportunity to buy for that someone special. Thank you to the many volunteers that either assisted with setup or the running of the stall. Without your help running such events would be extremely difficult.
Annual Spring Fair – what can I say, it is always a great day filled with excitement, and fear if you were brave enough to enter the ‘tunnel of terror’!! After many months of preparations this day always comes together, and I would personally like to thank the Spring Fair subcommittee, sponsors, community groups, staff and students that all contribute to make sure this event can continue to take place every year. The weather was on our side and bathed us in lovely sunshine, and for three chaotic hours our school was a buzz with a huge array of community members, including the lovely Mayor Clare. I am very happy to announce that this event raised approximately $25,000.
All money raised through the P&C is redistributed back into the school to support the outcomes for all students.
Upcoming events in Term 4 to look forward to are:
P&C Meeting – Wednesday 11th October @ 3.00pm in the Library
Halloween Disco Thursday 26th October – a flyer will be sent home early in Term 4
Colour and Slime Run on 24th November to celebrate the end of the school year!!
Tewantin State School P&C are very proud to support P&C Queensland’s vision of ‘Every Child Every Chance’.
Many thanks
Vanessa Banik
President
Thank you to all the families who joined us for our Big Prep Playdate! It was a wonderful turn out with a number of new friends joining us for the first time.
Next term sees us hit the ground running with out first Step in to Prep Transition Day in Week 2. These Step in to Prep Transition sessions are an important part of your childs transition to school and are open to all enrolled Prep 2024 students.
Enrolments for Prep 2024 are still open and we encourage all families with a Prep aged child commencing in 2024 to get in touch for a tour and a chat.
Our school now has QParents. Parents should have received an invitation email or letter by now and it’s great to see that so many parents have registered already. If you have not received an invitation, please advise us immediately. QParents will become an integral part of how we communicate with parents. The biggest change parents will see is our Online Permissions will now only be able to be completed via QParents per Education Queenslands directive.
Get on board now to enjoy the ease and convenience that QParents offers.
Congratulations to our Top Tewantin Ticket earners for Term 3.
These students have been SAFE, RESPECTFUL LEARNERS throughout the term and were celebrated on assembly.

PG have become budding artists, trying their hand at ‘still life drawing’. What wonderful sunflowers!
In Term 4, the students have suggested we draw fruit, bowls of shells, peacock feathers and native flowers.

Spring has certainly sprung and it has been a fantastic Term 3 here at Tewantin State School. We had a very fun excursion to Wildlife HQ, we enjoyed our Book Week, Mrs Hill’s Art lessons, Ms Donoghue’s Stem classes and all the fun Maths and English lessons we had in our own classes.
Learning to write information reports about Australian animals was definitely another highlight of our term. We successfully completed our English assessment about The Northern Blossom Bat. In Maths we completed our calendar, measurement and number assessments. We are proud of all our students for the effort and levels of concentration they put into these tasks.
This term we have been targeting friendships. We have also been enjoying and celebrating class rewards, and now the weather has warmed up we enjoyed a fruit icy pole in the beautiful school Spring garden and had a chat with our friends in our class. We sure do have friendly students here in grade 2. Thank you everyone for keeping in touch with us over the term. As teachers we like to have a chat too! It’s so rewarding seeing you all around the school and in our classrooms.
We want to wish you a safe and happy Spring holiday and we look forward to seeing everyone again in Term 4.
