Dear Parents and Guardians
As we reach the mid-point of 2024, I would like to thank you for all your continued support as we work together as a school community, raising standards and continuing to provide an environment that allows our young people to thrive.
We have had an extremely successful start to the year with students focused on learning and doing their absolute best every single day. There have been so many amazing events that have taken place this term as a result of the hard work, dedication and resilience of our staff and students. Highlights of the term include:

- ‘Big buddies with little buddies’ our Year 6 students have continued work with their Prep buddies
- Our classrooms were vibrant with excitement as Year 2 students engaged in a thrilling Science incursion, sparking curiosity and hands-on learning. Meanwhile, Year 4's adventure to Australia Zoo brought wildlife conservation to life and Year 3's visit to Sea Life deepened their understanding of marine ecosystems.

Report Cards
Semester One report cards for all students in Prep to Year 6 will be issued in Week 10. These report cards provide a comprehensive overview of your child’s progress. Sharing your child’s report card with them and reflecting on their learning journey is a crucial factor in establishing expectations and front ending success for Semester Two. This is also a time to celebrate their accomplishments and use this opportunity to set goals together for the upcoming semester. By involving your child in this process, you empower them to take ownership of their education and foster a positive growth mindset. During the middle of Term 3, Student Progress Interviews will be held and you will have the opportunity to discuss your child’s academic progress with your child’s classroom teacher.
Embracing Change and Building Resilience in Our Students
I am excited to share some insights into how we can help our children develop resilience and effectively cope with the changes they encounter in their daily lives. Change is an inevitable part of life, and whether it's adjusting to a new class, making new friends, or facing unexpected challenges, fostering resilience is essential for their growth and well-being. By working together, we can create an environment that supports our children in developing the skills and mindset needed to navigate these changes with confidence and positivity.
Building Resilience
Resilience is the ability to bounce back from difficulties and adapt to new circumstances. Here are some key strategies to help our students build this important trait:
- Encouraging a Growth Mindset: We teach students to view challenges as opportunities for growth. By promoting a "can-do" attitude, we help them understand that effort and perseverance lead to improvement and success.
- Fostering Strong Relationships: Positive relationships with teachers, peers, and family members provide a support network that children can rely on during times of change. We emphasise the importance of kindness, empathy, and teamwork within our school community.
- Developing Problem-Solving Skills: We guide students in identifying problems, brainstorming solutions, and making decisions. These skills empower them to tackle challenges confidently and independently.
- Promoting Self-Care: Taking care of one’s physical and emotional health is fundamental to resilience. We teach students the value of regular exercise, healthy eating, adequate rest, and mindfulness practices to maintain their well-being.
Busy Week Ahead to Wrap Up Term 2!
Week 10 is shaping up to be an action-packed end to Term 2! Our Year 6 students will be heading off to Currimundi Rec Camp for an unforgettable adventure, while Motivat8 sports will be spending a day with our students, keeping them active and engaged as our teachers plan for Term 3. Year 4 will be participating in the Bike On! Cycle Skills program aimed to teach kids fun and interactive lessons on basic bike handling skills and safe practices for riding. Additionally, we are excited to being hosting a Wellbeing Day for our staff/students on Thursday 20 June, featuring activities such as mindfulness, guided art, safety talks (P-3 Road Safety & 4-6 CyberSafety), physical activities and team-building exercises. It is going to be a fantastic week of learning, growth, and fun!
Keep a Watch on our School these holidays!
Parents and students can help take care of our school by reporting any suspicious after hours activity to School Watch on 13 17 88. By keeping an eye out we can work together to create a safer school community and help to reduce vandalism, theft and arson in our school. If you see something suspicious, please don’t intervene.
Call the School Watch number and let the local police or State Government Protective Security Service deal with the matter.
Thank you for your ongoing support in Term 2 and we wish you a restful and rejuvenating break. We look forward to the continued partnership in the coming semester.
Sincerely,
Emma Marshall
Acting Principal
